Angie Hyde '96
Angie Hyde graduated in 1996 with a BS in marketing and is currently the director of public relations and marketing at the Living Planet Aquarium. Angie served as the student body secretary for ASWC, during which time she was able to plan extracurricular and social activities to enhance student life. In the beginning of her career, Angie worked in marketing and advertising. She also sought out volunteer work with nonprofit organizations, fostering a passion for service helped expand her skills and network base. She said her work is diverse and inspiring – “One day I’m in front of news reporters telling a great story and the next day I’m flying to the Florida Keys to pick up a rescued green sea turtle.” Westminster’s core values are reflected in her work every day. As she sets budgets and does marketing research, her critical thinking skills are put to the test; almost every job function requires teamwork and leadership; and writing and communication skills allow her to convey accurate and timely information to the news and public. However, she said the most important and rewarding part of her life is global consciousness, social responsibility, and ethical awareness: her career and subsequent volunteer work have allowed her to learn new skills, give back to the community, be challenged, and overall be a better person.
