Cecelia Mitchell '96
While she describes her Westminster experience as “non-traditional,” working full-time and caring for her family, Cecilia “Cece” Mitchell still gained a lot from her education. She graduated in 1996 with a BA in business and is now the senior vice president of small business lending for Zions Bank. She said hard work, taking advantages of opportunities – even if it meant a lower salary – and shamelessly using her great mentors got her where she is today, both professionally and personally. Westminster played a huge role in developing her professional skills: strategic planning, problem solving, and creative collaboration and teamwork. Her work requires her to communicate with government officials at the local, state, and national level, utilizing the writing and communication skills she gained at Westminster. There is always the possibility of addressing a conference with more than 1,000 attendees, making a presentation to a group of 15, or communicating with a single individual. Finally, she said, ethical awareness is a part of her everyday life as she takes responsibility for her actions and those of her team in the ever-tumultuous world of banking.
