Patrick Moore ('77)

Dr. Patrick Moore (’77), professor in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute’s Molecular Virology program, was recently elected to the prestigious U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Moore and his wife, Dr. Yuan Chang, who was also elected to the Academy, were recognized for identifying two of the seven known human cancer-causing viruses. Moore and Chang have also been named American Cancer Society Research Professors, and both received the University of Pittsburgh Chancellor's Research Award as well as the Marjory Stephen Research Prize from the Society for General Microbiology.
