Frances Battle '78
Frances Battle completed her masters of education at Westminster in 1978 and is now the proud principal of Bryant Middle School. Daily, she encourages each person in her school to be the “best that they can be.” An educator since 1975, Frances has also served as a teacher and assistant principal. In this position, she engages the students with the strong communication skills she learned at Westminster. Outside the school yard, Frances is an advocate and a mentor for children and young women. In 2004, she was honored by the YWCA with the Outstanding Achievement Award in Education. With the help of the University of Utah, Frances initiated a mentoring program for students whose grade point averages are 2.0 or lower. She also established a program with Salt Lake Community College, in which students are mentored to become the first in their families to seek a college degree. Through her dedication to social responsibility and ethical awareness, Frances has made Salt Lake City a better place to be a student.
