On the Other Side is the first-ever Westminster student-produced motion picture. Chloe, a college freshman is falling for Jonny, a fellow student. Dean, a student photographer, is infatuated with Chloe and photographs her every move. Through a fallout between Dean and Chloe, the truth about Jonny’s identity is revealed. This 20-minute film was shot mostly on the Westminster campus in May 2009 and premiered on campus this past September. The college’s student film club, Reel Griffins, is offering copies of the DVD for sale. Copies are $15 each and can be purchased at the Concierge Desk in the Shaw Center. Contact reelgriffins@gmail.com for more information. The film is not rated, but does contain some adult language. The DVD includes the film as well as a behind-the-scenes short documentary and a slide show of production stills. Proceeds from the sale of the DVD will be used to cover the cost of submission to film festivals across the country.

Another idea for giving during the holidays is through the “Celebrating the Past, Paving the Future” program, which offers friends of the college an opportunity to place an engraved brick on the patio of the Kim T. Adamson Alumni House. Bricks are available for a donation of $100 for a 4” X 8” brick or $200 for an 8” X 8.” Bricks may have up to six lines engraved, 18 characters per line. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be installed on the patio in 2010.
