Alumni survey complete; planning process to begin
This summer, Westminster College contracted with Lighthouse Research to conduct a thorough alumni satisfaction survey. What do Westminster alumni truly want, expect, and need from their alma mater? How do you feel about Westminster and your experience here as a student? Were you prepared for life after Westminster? We wanted to know how best to communicate with you and what kinds of information you want to hear about from the college. And we wanted to better understand the currently low alumni giving rate, and find out what might motivate more of you to make an annual alumni gift.
Lighthouse Research conducted 511 telephone interviews with alumni—with many of you calling back to make sure your opinions were heard! Lighthouse held three focus groups, bringing alumni from all eras and backgrounds together, to discuss and probe. And the online survey, with a remarkable 481 complete responses, was completed by October 9, 2007.
Once Lighthouse analyzes and presents the data, we’ll have some solid information to share with you. Working with the Alumni Board, the Trustees Committee on Alumni, and the Alumni and Parent Relations Office, we’ll begin to draft a strategic plan for the alumni operation of Westminster College.
“What is so important about this process is that our plan for alumni will be developed by and from alumni,” said Dana Tumpowsky, director of alumni and parent relations. “I feel that this survey and planning is the most powerful effort Westminster has ever made to positively affect how the college relates to our current and future alumni.”
