About:
As a teacher educator since 1991, I have had the pleasure of using my K-12 teaching experiences as well as the researched "best practices" of colleagues from around the world to foster a broader understanding of how to teach literacy. Currently, I am co-teaching an elementary pre-service language arts course at Rose Park Elementary School in Salt Lake School District. Westminster students work with students and teachers in the classrooms and with students in the after-school program. On campus, I work with graduate students who are returning to obtain a reading endorsement and secondary pre-service teachers from all content areas to share strategies that will help K-12 students access content. For several years I have been co-teaching a May term trip to the Four Corners area where faculty and education/nursing students learn from the elders and children of the Hopi Nation and Navajo Nation.
