Nationalism, transnationalism, and borderlands studies
About
Katy earned her B.A. in English with a minor in Women's Studies from Dartmouth College and her M.A. and Ph.D. with a portfolio in Indigenous Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She has also worked for non-profit community, education, and arts organizations in San Francisco, Boston, and Austin. She enjoys teaching a diverse range of American and Native American literatures and encourages her students to explore the complex views of history, culture, and society they provide. Her research focuses on the political and cultural implications of performance texts written and staged by Native American authors and has been included in the edited collections American Indian Performing Arts: Critical Directions (2009) and Indigenous Feminisms: Politics, Activism, Culture (2010).
In her free time, Katy enjoys spending time with her husband, twin daughters, dog, two cats, and eight chickens, and keeps herself out of trouble with hiking, cooking, movies, dance classes, and pick-up soccer.
