I had the good fortune of being named the Dean of the School of Education in 2007, after many years as a member of the education faculty and dean at Brown University in Rhode Island. I am an educational psychologist interested in helping schools create positive learning environments for students from diverse backgrounds.My research has included evaluations of community programs to prevent substance abuse by youth, creating supportive learning environments for students with learning disabilities, and examinations of the relationship between self-concept and school achievement.
