Dr. Richard Wellman joined the mathematics faculty at Westminster College in 2000 and became department chair in 2004. Richard has taught most of the mathematics courses offered at Westminster, but has a particular fondness for abstract algebra and discrete mathematics.

Before coming to Westminster Richard spent several years developing educational software for various groups and institutions including the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Key Curriculum Press, and the Wordbook Encyclopedia.

Richards research interests include functional analysis and theoretical computer science. He has published several papers in both fields.

Richard is an avid skier and mountain biker who loves the mountains of Utah. Together with the wonderful geography of Utah and the great learning environment at the college, Richard couldnt imagine a better place to be than Westminster.
