About

Teaching at Westminster returns me to the liberal arts environment I enjoyed at Oberlin College, where I studied English and vocal performance. I received my B.A. there in 1995, then went on to a much bigger place, the University of Texas at Austin. At UT I earned a PhD in English, specializing in the history of the language and linguistics, and discovered the wonderful world of writing centers. I helped administer UT's Undergraduate Writing Center 2001-2005 while teaching at St. Edward's University and in UT's Science, Technology, and Society program. I then taught for a year as a visiting professor at Southwesern University in Georgetown, Texas. I have sung professionally with a variety of choirs and early music ensembles and sang with Conspirare on the CD Threshold of Night, nominated in 2009 for two Grammy awards.

Research/Teaching Interests

My research is an amphibious combination of writing center theory and practice, medieval studies, and linguistics.

Teaching Interests:
Composition and Rhetoric
Writing Pedagogy
