About

David is an avid cyclist, back-country skier, and is into several types of soft-core mountaineering. He digs making art, mostly action based land art and photography. He has also worked with film, video, concept work and performance. His work has been included in dozens of group exhibits from Salt Lake City to Budapest. He has had 13 solo exhibits, most recently at the Salt Lake Art Center. His artwork and his writings have appeared in several publications, including ArtWeek, Leica View and LensWork. He has created publications, received grants and won awards for his work, all meaningless accomplishments. A book of his photographs, Peace, was recently published by the Center for Documentary Arts.

Research/Teaching Interests

David loves making art that explores some difficult edge. He likes it best when boundaries become vague. He gets into teaching photography and experimental art of all flavors. His devotion to cycling, his insistence on making art that will not sell, and his nearly two decades of teaching at Westminster College clearly demonstrate both his idealism and his perverse taste for abuse.
