Description:

This one year fellowships program trains and prepares scientists for careers in public health laboratories and supports public health initiatives related to infectious disease research. All fellows attend a one-week session in Atlanta to gain a general understanding of the public health laboratory system and how it relates to infectious disease surveillance, prevention, research, and control. After the orientation, the fellows are placed in state or local public health laboratories for advanced training. The annual stipend is about $28,100 for fellows with a bachelors degree and $31,322 for fellows with a masters degree. Medical insurance and funds for travel to the host laboratory are also provided. Enrollment Requirement:

Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a bachelors or masters degree in microbiology, virology, or related discipline and/or completed an accredited medical technologists program by the start of the EID fellowship Program.
