Description:

Program Description, Eligibility Requirements, Application Deadlines: The German Academic Exchange Service sponsors several programs including: Deutschlandjahr Scholarships for Graduating Seniors: This program supports graduating seniors and recent graduates in one year of study or research in a German University. Candidates must be U.S. or Canadian citizens, who have taken at least two years of college-level German. Grants provide tuition, fees, living expenses, health insurance, and round trip airfare to Germany. Deadline is November 15th. German Studies Research Grants: U.S. or Canadian citizens who are in at least their third year of college on a German Studies track and have taken at least two years of college level German and three courses in German studies are eligible to conduct short-term research projects in contemporary German affairs. Students must be nominated by their academic department or chair. Research support ranges from $1,500 to $3,000. Application deadlines are May 1st and November 1st. Hoschschulsommerkurse at German Universities: Three to four week summer German language and cultural immersion courses are offered at universities throughout Germany. Scholarships are awarded to juniors or senior pursuing full-time study at U.S> or Canadian college or universities, and who have completed at least four semesters of college-level German or the equivalent. Scholarships provides support for tuition, room and board, and a travel subsidy. Application Procedures: Applications and detailed information will be available on the website after September 1st.
