The NGPA Education Fund (NGPA-EF) provides educational assistance in the form of scholarships to students pursuing aviation careers as professional pilots and who have demonstrated community involvement, including support of the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual & transgender (LGBT) community. Eligibility " The recipients of the scholarship will be restricted to individuals who are seeking aviation related training leading to a career as a professional pilot. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older. " Scholarship funds cannot be used to pay for the basic Private Certificate; they must be applied towards advanced fight training costs at a government approved flight school or to college tuition if enrolled in an accredited aviation degree program. A scholarship award must be used within two years following the date of award. The applicant should be clear in his/her career narrative on how the awarded funds will be spent. Becoming a professional pilot must be the stated career goal. " Recipients may re-apply for a scholarship for a scholastic year other than the one for which they have received a scholarship. Award of a scholarship for subsequent scholastic years is not automatic. Additionally, awards are limited to a maximum of four per individual, with a maximum of one award per grant year per individual. " Membership in NGPA is not a requirement. " Scholarships awards will not discriminate on the basis of an individuals sexual orientation. The strength of the applicants commitment to supporting and bettering the LGBT community is one of the criteria established by the NGPA Education Fund in considering applicants; however, the scholarship will be awarded regardless of race, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, or other group protected by non-discrimination laws. " Make sure the completed application with all supporting materials is submitted (postmarked) by the deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
