After receiving the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1986, Elie Wiesel established The Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. Rooted in the memory of the Holocaust, the Foundation's mission is to combat indifference, intolerance and injustice through international dialogues and youth-focused programs that promote acceptance, understanding and equality. Applicants for the Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest must submit a 3,000 to 4,000 word essay on any of a variety of moral or ethical issues. Applicants are encouraged to raise questions, single out issues and identify dilemmas. Students must complete a Contest Entry Form and have it signed by a Faculty Sponsor. Awards range from $500 to $5,000. |
