The Donor Relations assistant helps in the support and implementation
of a College-wide donor relations program designed to foster and sustain long-term, meaningful
relationships between the College and its donors. This includes working with the major gift team to
ensure adequate donor stewardship such as assisting in preparing substantive reports to donors which
demonstrate the impact of their gift. This position includes duties in database/systems management
(35% of time), marketing and communications (30% of time), donor recognition and engagement
(25% of time), and event planning/assistance (10% of time). Note: Percentages are subject to change.
The position reports to Major Gift Officer Judy Fang and requires 20 hours per week of dedicated
work. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist in the
preparation of thank you letters from the Provost and the Deans for gifts ranging from $1,000 to
$4,999 • Manage a system to prioritize, prepare, send and track holiday gifts for selected donors. •
Will need to be able to work in December, especially prior to the Christmas holiday. • Assist in
strategizing and implementing a donor relations program to complement the objectives of the overall
fundraising goals of the Advancement Office • Assist in the development and implementation of
Donor Recognition Plans, which may include special acknowledgement, recognition or engagement,
as well as any special donor requests • Collaborate with appropriate development staff on the design
and execution of selected stewardship materials and events including stewardship reports and
communications • Prepare minutes and action items from various meetings • Word processing
and/or data entry into spreadsheets as required • Miscellaneous clerical responsibilities • Other
duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications: • Must have outstanding written and verbal
communication skills, including editing/proofreading skills • Must exhibit proficiency in Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and have experience using relational databases • One year experience
working in an office setting • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic
environment, determining priorities and completing them within a specified timeframe • Must be
able to interface with donors, college administration, and the campus generally with a courteous and
professional manner • Must be self-motivated, flexible, responsible and reliable • Proactive,
curious, and detail oriented; able to work on their own with little supervision and see projects
through to their completion
