SALT LAKE CITY– To celebrate the work and the sacrifices made by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other pioneers of the Civil Rights Movement and to acknowledge the ongoing work that still needs to be done to achieve equity in our society, Westminster College will host a series of events in January and February.

“We hope to draw attention to civil rights issues that are relevant today,” said Dr. Bridget Newell, associate provost for diversity and global learning. “For example, when people talk about organic and healthy food, they don’t talk about race and class. That’s why we felt it was important to hear Bryant Terry speak. He’s going to touch on just that.”

A listing of Westminster’s MLK and Black History Month events includes:

MLK Jr. Day “Marade” (March+Parade)
