SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster College is pleased to host award winning novelist, poet, essayist and playwright Ana Castillo. The public is invited to apply for her Fall semester nonfiction writing workshop. The workshop will sharpen skills in creating story and dialogue in memoir and essay writing. Local writers, this is your opportunity to learn from and collaborate with a distinguished author. Wherever your writing level is now, this workshop will bring it to the next level.
Castillo has been a writer in residence for many years at schools such as M.I.T., Mount Holyoke, and the University of California, Santa Barbara. She publishes La Tolteca E-zine, a literary forum working toward a world without borders and censorship. Her novels include The Guardians, So Far From God; poetry collections, Watercolor Women, Opaque Men and I Ask the Impossible; and essays, Massacre of the Dreamers.
Ana Castillo will teach a 14-week, 3-credit nonfiction writing workshop at Westminster College on Tuesdays, from 4:30 p.m.-7:20 p.m. beginning Aug. 28, 2012. Community members will be admitted based on submitted writing samples of up to ten pages. The workshop is limited to 15 participants with an audit fee of $1732 each.
