Westminster President Named Chair of Utah Campus Compact

Westminster College has announced that President Michael Bassis has been named the board chair of the Utah Campus Compact (UCC). Bassis is the first president of a private institution of higher education to be named chair of the UCC.

Bassis will focus on providing leadership and vision for the UCC board and he will represent UCC at state and national gatherings. As board chair, Bassis will promote service-learning and civic engagement on campuses across the state. "With the commitment to this work very evident at Westminster, President Bassis is uniquely posed to motivate and encourage other campuses to deepen their commitment to the civic mission of higher education," said Executive Director of the Utah Campus Compact, Linda Dunn.

UCC is a coalition of college and university presidents and their campuses committed to citizenship through active involvement in academically based and co-curricular civic and community service. UCC strives to enhance meaningful service and learning programs on Utah higher education campuses. By fostering cooperation, leadership, and service UCC helps graduates develop a greater understanding of the importance of leadership and service in the community.

Bassis is preceded as chair of UCC by Ann Millner.
