For the First Time Ever Westminster College Ranked in The Princeton Review "America’s Best Value Colleges: 2007"
March 28, 2006
Westminster selected for national ranking based on quality of education and relatively low cost
SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster College is one of the nation’s best values for undergraduate education according to The Princeton Review. Westminster is featured in the 2007 edition of “America’s Best Value Colleges,” which goes on sale today. This is the first time Westminster has appeared in this highly competitive guidebook. Rated among more than 4,500 schools nationwide, Westminster is in the top 150 according to the Princeton Review. The ranking is based on the excellent academics, affordable tuition (below the national average) and generous financial aid packages Westminster offers students.
President Michael Bassis remarked, “Westminster’s educational mission is focused on creating a challenging and supportive educational environment for our students. We are pleased that our hard work and deep commitment to our students is reflected in this ranking. As Utah’s only private, liberal arts college, we hope to continue to be a unique point of pride for the state of Utah as our national reputation continues to grow.”
This year Westminster joins the ranks of 103 public and 46 other private colleges in 40 states, including the only other private school in Utah, Brigham Young University which was ranked #1 this year among private institutions.
Robert Franek, V.P-Publishing for The Princeton Review said, "We considered over 30 factors to rate the colleges in four categories: Academics, Tuition GPA (the sticker price minus average amount students receive in scholarships and grants), Financial Aid (how well colleges meet students' financial need), and Student Borrowing. We recommend the 150 schools in this book as America's best college education deals for 2006." The entire list of schools can be viewed at www.PrincetonReview.com .
