SALT LAKE CITY
– Students from Westminster College, in partnership with The Quest for the Gift of Life Foundation, hosted a Guinness World Record Extravaganza for organ donor registry at Liberty Park on October 23.

The goal of the event was not only to help the thousands of Americans in need of transplants by registering the most organ donors in a single day, but to break the Guinness Book of World Records record for their state-wide event.

“The event went really well despite of the rain,” said Stephanie Woodward, Westminster student coordinator. “We had 76 registrants who braved the weather and came to Liberty Park and signed up to be organ donors, and I don't think they were disappointed. We had all-you-can-eat pizza, Rubio's, Red Bull, and a fiddler and a singer, so there was never a dull moment.”

The students broke the world record with the help of 13 other locations. Westminster students also set up a place where people could sign up in Kansas City, MO.

In 2009, Westminster students created a world record for the most organ donors to register at a single event –250 people.
