Westminster Introduces New Project-Based MBA Program
New MBA adds to the college’s repertoire of graduate business programs

SALT LAKE CITY – Adding to its menu of graduate business programs, Westminster College is pleased to introduce a new Project-based Master of Business Administration program to begin in the fall of 2010.
According to recent studies, online and hybrid programs are growing in popularity. Responding to this emerging trend, Westminster has created a new Project-based MBA program which combines a mix of online resources and limited on-campus workshops and seminars, and focuses on applied business projects through which students demonstrate not only what they know, but what they can do with what they know.
“Our new Project-based MBA program is designed for students who want to maximize flexibility through a combination of online learning and face-to-face interaction,” explained Aric Krause, dean of Westminster’s Division of New Learning. “Through the program’s real-world projects, students demonstrate mastery of the skills employers want today. The program builds on the student’s existing knowledge and experience, and our online learning tools allow students to control when and how they learn.”
The college has modeled the new Project-based MBA on its successful undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration degree-completion program.
The Project-based MBA features five business project sequences which can be completed over an 18 to 24 month time period. Students are required to attend two-day sessions prior to the start of each project sequence, which will help them network and connect with each other, as well as with their faculty.
“Students have a full-time faculty member who will work closely to coach and mentor them on their projects, as well as evaluate their work,” said Krause. “By the end of the MBA program, students have the skills and abilities needed to lead today’s most dynamic firms.”
With the addition of this new program Westminster now offers three highly customizable graduate business programs to fit students’ individual needs. They include a “traditional” MBA, an MBA in Technology Management (MBATM) and the new Project-based MBA. All three programs are tailored to fit the busy schedules of working professionals and include a fixed price.
