SALT LAKE CITY– Westminster College is pleased to announce its participation in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program), an agreement between higher education institutions and Veterans Affairs (VA) to fund tuition expenses for eligible veterans.

Under the Yellow Ribbon Program, VA and Westminster will cover the total cost of tuition and fees for eligible veterans who meet admissions standards of the college. Westminster can support up to 100 veterans per year under this program.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. For students attending private colleges like Westminster, the program is a great deal because it allows for VA to cover the cost of 50 percent of the difference between the cost of the approved rate for Utah and the college’s tuition, and Westminster will pay the other 50 percent. Through this partnership all tuition and fees are paid for veterans with the exception of room and board and other living expenses.

“We are excited to be a part of the Yellow Ribbon Program and to support our nation’s veterans,” said Joel Bauman, vice president of Westminster’s Enrollment Services. “This program allows us to offer educational opportunities to those who have made tremendous sacrifices, and this is a one way we can give back and thank them for their service.”

Students must fit the eligibility criteria listed on the Department of Veteran’s Affairs website at www.gibill.va.gov/GI_BILL_info/ch33/yellow_ribbon.htm.
