Westminster Professor Recognized for Excellence in Public Health Education
George L. White, Ph.D., named a finalist in Dorland Health People Awards Program
SALT LAKE CITY –Dorland Health, a leading health care media company, has named George L. White, Ph.D., director of Westminster’s public health program, as a finalist in the second annual People Awards. The national awards program honors excellence and dedication among health care professionals from across the country in 18 categories.
White is a finalist in the “health care educators” category for his life-long work promoting public health education. Through out his career, White has helped develop three master’s programs in public health and currently directs Westminster’s MPH program. Westminster began offering a master’s degree and certificate in public health in 2008 to address the shortage of qualified public health professionals.
White is continually involved in community healthy initiatives and serves on Utah’s Health Advisory Council. He was selected by a team of judges for his leadership, creativity, and innovation to be a finalist in the Dorland Health People Awards.
"The Dorland Health People Awards are intended to recognize those health care professionals who are changing the culture of health care to be patient and family focused and provide access to consumers of health care across the care continuum," said Anne Llewellyn, editor in chief with Dorland Health.
White and other finalists will be recognized at an awards luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. For more information on the awards visit http://www.dorlandhealth.com/pressrelease/people_awards_finalists.
