Why Complete An Internship?
You will stand out from the competition as employers scan your resume. A recent NACE survey reported that employers extend full-time offers to more than 1/2 of their interns. Also, almost 1/2 of employers said they offer higher salaries to new graduates who have any internship experience compared to those who do not. In addition:
- see if your choice of major and your personal career goals are right for you as you work closely with professionals in your field
- develop hands-on experience related to your major and career goals. You will gain skills and knowledge that you cannot learn in the classroom
- earn the practical employment experience that employers want to see
- develop job seeking skills by helping to establish: your network of professional contacts, potential mentors, leads on jobs in your field, and references you can use to secure the job you want
