Jan Lyons, Assistant Director

Working in the Career Resource Center has provided me with a wonderful way to get to know Westminster students. In particular I work with the students from the Gore School of Business and have been so impressed with the students, faculty, and staff that I have met.

I love to help people realize that looking for a job is so much more than looking through the want-ads in the Sunday paper. It is wonderful to see a student’s eyes light up when they realize that there are so many opportunities available to them if they know how to go about looking for them. I love getting paid for something that I would like to do for free.

My Bachelor’s degree is in Political Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara and I have an MBA from Utah State University (USU). I like to provide this background to show that one can (and most do) go from one major and move into new jobs and careers throughout life.

I have worked in private industry (banking, aerospace) and for a number of years in academia. As a lecturer I have kept track of what’s going on in business while teaching, among other classes, marketing, management, operations. For nine years I worked in Career Services at USU and two years at Tufts University in Boston.
