Career Counseling and Assessment

Career counseling and assessment is available to all Westminster students and alumni. Individual assistance with career exploration, planning and decision-making is available by appointment. Interest inventories and other career exploration and personality assessments are also offered to current Westminster students and alumni for $30.00 (includes all assessments). Listed below is a brief explanation of the assessments we offer:

Career Liftoff (CLII)

Career Liftoff is a career interest inventory that is administered online. The inventory is designed to help identify an individual's occupational interests in both broad and specific categories, and also points towards specific career fields that a person might consider and explore. The inventory does not measure one's ability for career sucess, only areas of interest. This assessment takes approximately thirty minutes to complete.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

The MBTI is a pencil and paper assessment that measures how individuals prefer to look at things and the process they use to make decisions. Obtaining this insight can help individuals understand their strengths, the kind of work they might enjoy, and how people with different preferences can relate to each other. This is not an aptitude or an abilities measurement. This assessment takes approximately thirty minutes to complete.

Strengths Finder

Strenghts Finder is an online, timed assessment. It is designed to help individuals identify their 5 strongest "themes of talent" that can be useful in identifying a person's greatest work-related strengths or areas where they are most likely to excel. This assessment takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes to complete.

Strong Interest inventory (SII)

The Strong Interest Inventory is a computer scored assessment designed to help identify an individual's interests in a broad range of occupations, work activities, leisure activities, and school subjects. The inventory does not measure one's ability for career success, only areas of interest. This assessment takes approximately thirty-five minutes to complete.

SkillScan

SkillScan is a card sort exercise that allows individuals to identify and categorize skills for preferred use and development. This exercise can be very useful in leading to the identification of positions, which utilize the preferred groupings of skills. This assessment takes approximately forty minutes to complete.

Values Driven Work (VDW)

The Values Driven Work is a card sort exercise, which allows individuals to identify, understand, and prioritize work and life values. It is designed to help individuals to understand their personal values and how to align them with their careers. This assessment takes approximately forty minutes to complete.
