The following majors require an internship for credit.

If you major is not on this list, you can still do an internship for credit. You can also do an internship without getting the credits. We strongly recommend at least one internship to all students, especially those in Arts and Sciences. Internships are a valuable way to build important skills and make yourself competitive after you graduate.
How many credits will I get for completing an internship?
Every 42 hours of work at your internship = 1 credit hour of upper division credit. Some majors require at least two credits and some require 4. You will need to check your Bulletin to find the credit requirements.

Please note: There are minimum and maximum credit hours you can use for internship. Make sure to check the catalog and with your Academic Advisor to ensure the internship fits your schedule/degree requirements.
Are there eligibility requirements for internship?
- Undergraduate students must have achieved junior or senior class standing (60 credits or more) or for transfer students, at least 15 hours completed at Westminster
- MBA students must have completed at least 15 hours of graduate work at Westminster
- Student must have a 2.5 GPA or above (3.0 for MBA students)
- Completion of some course work in the student’s disciplinary area
- Completion of the internship workshop
- These are the requirements if you are registering for credit. If you do not intend to register for credits, you may not need to meet all of the above criteria.
What is an Internship Workshop?
If you do an internship for credit you are required to complete an Internship Workshop. The workshop will cover specifics of the internship program, how to register and will provide the paperwork necessary to register.

Who is my faculty advisor?
- Arts & Science Majors:
If you are majoring in any area of Arts & Science your faculty advisor for your internship is any member of the full time faculty in your area of study. They will supervise the academic portion of your internship experience which includes grading.

Business Majors:

When can I do an internship for credit?
It is possible to do an internship in the fall, spring and summer semesters. Credit for internship is not available during May Term.You need to add your internship by the last day to add/drop in the semester in which you intend to register.
