Bev Christy, Director
My goal for our office is to reach more Westminster students to help them through the process of finding meaningful internships and careers. In addition to my responsibilities as Director of the Career Resource Center, I advise undergraduate and graduate students in Education and Health Sciences. I also work closely with community leaders and employers to let them know more about the College and the quality of Westminster students. I am involved in Rotary International and value the opportunities to make contact with employers and participate in service on behalf of the Westminster.
I enjoy working one-on-one with students and teaching career related topics as requested. I also co-teach a class for sophomores each year to help them explore different majors and careers. Working closely with faculty, other departments on campus, and potential employers in the community is very rewarding as we continue to market our services and become more visible.
One of my favorite books for students is “Acing the Interview” by Tony Beshara. This book includes many sample interview questions, four types of qualifying questions, questions to ask yourself, your recruiter, and your potential employer, and a great appendix at the end of the book.
We are here to help you with all aspects of career exploration and planning. Please drop by and meet the Career Resource Center team! Come over to Shaw 101 when it’s convenient for you or schedule an appointment to meet with a career counselor. Also, check out our website for valuable information about career planning, internships, job search, graduate school information and more!

Jon Davis, Associate Director

I work primarily with undergraduate students in the Westminster School of Arts and Sciences, and students in the Master of Arts in Community Leadership and Master of Science in Professional Counseling programs. I help students conduct job searches, prepare resumes and cover letters, practice interviewing skills and arrange internships. I also assist students with career assessments, which can help them to determine a career development pathI worked several years as a career consultant before coming to Westminster. I have been working in the Career Resource Center for almost 10 years! It has been a great experience, because career and personal development is my professional passion and interest. Westminster College is a unique place--there is no other college or university like it this area--it is great to work at a place where you can get to know such a high percentage of the students, faculty and staff. Two books come to mind--What Color is Your Parachute by Richard Bolles and How to Get Any Job with Any Major, by Donald Asher. Both books give excellent overviews of the career development and job search process, and are enjoyable to read as well. We offer a wider array of services and help than you might think. Come on in and talk with us--we are happy to answer any questions you may have about what's on your mind, career-wise, and we can explain what resources we have that can help you. Email Jon
Polly Unruh, Graduate Student and Alumni Advisor
I work with MBA, MBATM, MAcc and MPC graduate students and all alumni. I work with people to determine a good fit between their skill set, ambitions, and company type and positions. Together, we create an effective resume and cover letter, discuss job search techniques and work on interviewing skills. I also work with employers to raise their visibility on campus and provide them with new recruiting opportunities. I enjoy the connections – with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers. Its so rewarding to build the network between all of these groups, helping to create positive, productive relationships. I have two favorite books to recommend: What Color is Your Parachute? A Practical Guide for Job-Hunters and Career Changers by Richard Nelson Bolles and Now What? A Young Person’s Guide to Choosing the Perfect Career by Nicholas Lore. We want you to know we are a great resource for you throughout your college experience and after you graduate. Email Polly
Verity Flurer, Career Services Coordinator
I work primarily with students in the School of Education and can help with resumes, mock interviews and setting up a credential file. I can also help students in the School of Nursing with their resumes. For students applying to graduate school, I can set up a file to collect letters of recommendation and send them out to the different schools. I am the main technical support for Employment Wizard (our online job database) and can troubleshoot any problems with logging in, uploading your resume, scheduling interviews, etc. As Westminster College alumni, I love being able to work here! I like working at the Career Center because we offer a service that is valuable to students, and I enjoy being able to see students progress and succeed on a daily basis. It is rewarding to know that my efforts can make such a difference in a person’s career search. The resource I would recommend to students is Vault.com. This is a brand-new acquisition for our office, and it has so many great and varied resources! I especially like the “Day in the Life of” segments, in which different professions are highlighted and you can get an hour-by-hour description of specific job. Use our resources! Our office has so many resources to help navigate your first job search or apply to graduate school-don’t miss out on them!
