Objectives
The Speech and Theatre Arts Program offers an academic minor in Theatre
Arts, a teaching minor in Theatre Arts, and courses in speech and dance.
Speech courses concentrate on the theoretical and practical aspects of
human communication essential to personal and professional situations.
The program is designed to develop effectiveness and proficiency in using
oral language in such areas as public speaking, group discussion, organizational
communication, and oral interpretation.
The Dance Program offers two levels of modern dance, beginning and intermediate.
An equal emphasis is placed on technique, improvisation, and choreography.
Final projects of group and solo choreography are presented informally
in the studio or on stage.
The Theatre Arts Program provides students course work and production
workshops in all areas of theatre in order to provide both a theoretical
and practical foundation for careers in secondary schools or community
theatre and for further advanced studies. Through regularly scheduled
productions, Westminster Players offers all students the opportunity to
act or participate in production work on plays from a variety of genres
and periods.
For course prerequisites, please refer to the course description.
