SPAN	110	Spanish I	(4)
A novice introduction to the written and spoken structures of the language. Cultural appreciation also emphasized.

SPAN	111	Spanish II	(4)
Continued development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, as well as cultural appreciation.

SPAN	220	Spanish III	(4)
An intermediate conversation/composition course with emphasis on grammar. Prerequisite: SPAN 111 or consent of instructor.

SPAN	221	Spanish IV	(4)
Continuation of intermediate conversation/composition with some introductory readings in Spanish civilization and literature. Prerequisite: SPAN 220 or consent of instructor.

SPAN	300	Special Topics in Spanish	(1–4)
This changing topics course provides a variety of on-campus special interest Spanish language courses, as well as May Term travel courses.

SPAN	320	Spanish Culture and Literature I	(4)
Advanced conversation/composition through literary and journalistic reading. Some review of intermediate grammar. Prerequisite: SPAN 221 or consent of instructor.

SPAN	321	Spanish Culture and Literature II	(4)
Continuation of advanced conversation/composition through literary and journalistic readings. Some review of intermediate-advanced grammar. Prerequisite: SPAN 320, or consent of instructor.

SPAN	356	Methods of Teaching Modern Languages	(2)
Methods of teaching Spanish in elementary and secondary schools. Includes lectures and readings on traditional and current pedagogical approaches as related to linguistic theory, as well as microteaching. Same as FREN 356.

SPAN	387	Undergraduate Teaching	(1–2)
Advanced students work as teaching assistants in SPAN 110–111. A maximum of two credit hours of SPAN 387 may be applied to the major or minor. Prerequisite: consent of instructor and language program director.

SPAN	401	Directed Studies	(1–4)
A tutorial-based course used only for student-initiated proposals for intensive individual study of topics not otherwise offered in the Spanish Program. Prerequisite: consent of instructor and school dean.

SPAN	440	Internship	(1–8)
Offers students the opportunity to integrate classroom knowledge with practical experience. Prerequisites: junior or senior standing (for transfer students, at least 15 hours completed at Westminster or permission of instructor), minimum 2.5 GPA, completion of the Career Resource Center Internship Workshop, and consent of program director and Career Center Internship Coordinator.
