2008-2009 Human Performance and Wellness Program (HPW)
Course Descriptions
Dean, Sheryl Steadman
Program Director, Marvin Seale
Human Performance and Wellness courses provide unique opportunities to challenge and maximize the potential of the human mind, body, and spirit. As expected, there are traditional activity courses that benefit from their home in the new Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness and Athletic Center. As desired, there are numerous classes that venture outdoors and take advantage of world-class recreational opportunities minutes from campus. In general, the curriculum emphasizes experiential learning and optimal living through physical fitness, movement education, lifetime sports, outdoor recreation, and the promotion of holistic well-being. Students should be aware that many special topics courses are offered each semester; look for Avalanche Awareness, Outdoor Leadership, Scuba, Advanced Strength Training, Indoor Climbing, or Providing Personal Training.
