Why Should You Study Chemistry?

Westminster's Chemistry Program

Paul Hooker, Associate Chemistry Professor, says students should study chemistry to "appreciate chemical theories and principles that underlie most of the science world." Students go on to medical school, do graduate work in chemistry, teach in secondary schools, or secure positions with laboratories.

Why Choose Westminster's Program?

Our emphasis is on experimentation, scientific methodology, and the development of research skills. There are opportunities to participate in internships, research projects, volunteer opportunities, or membership in professional or student organizations.

We offer facility access that is rarely found in other colleges and universities. Our lab capacity exceeds the number of students in the program. Class sizes are small allowing faculty members to work closely with students.

What Else?

Westminster's Chemistry program offers an academic major and minor in Chemistry for a B.S. degree, as well as a teaching major and minor. The Chemistry curriculum is flexible enough for further exploratory work in students' areas of interest.
