Undergraduate Research

Chemistry students have access to research inside and outside of the classroom. In most of the upper division chemistry classes, students are given the last few weeks of the semester to complete research projects of their own design. These projects are showcased to all science students during finals week and some posters are selected to be entered in the Undergraduate Research Fair at Westminster College. 

They may also be selected for presentation at the UCUR Poster Symposium held at the University of Utah campus. In addition, chemistry students have the opportunity to work on their research projects with Dr. Paul Hooker, Dr. Robyn Hyde or Dr. Tricia Shepherd. Some research is carried on throughout the year and some students are awarded stipends to continue the research during the summer.
