Westminster College Recognized in Top Five Employers By Utah Business Magazine
Salt Lake City, December 3, 2001. Based on a survey of employee benefits, Utah Business magazine listed Westminster College as one of the top five private companies to work for in Utah. Criteria for the ranking is based on employer benefits ranging from monetary compensation and education incentives to time off and healthcare coverage.
"I think the ranking is great," said College President Peggy Stock. "I believe the Utah Business accolade reflects our philosophy at Westminster College to put people first, not just with our students but with our staff and faculty too."
According to Mike Callahan, director of human resources, Westminster's benefits and compensation packages rely heavily on employee input along with current job market standards. "We use employee surveys and regular division meetings to find out what our staff and faculty needs are. Decisions affecting benefits and compensation at Westminster are not made in a vacuum. We value employee input."
Westminster College employs 272 staff and faculty and is Utah's only private, not-for-profit, nondenominational college. Founded in 1875, the college prepares its 2,500 students for personal and professional success through a foundation of broad traditional education, combined with professional programs that include important technical and communication skills. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Westminster in the top tier for regional colleges and universities for seven straight years.
