Kaplan/Newsweek Reports Westminster College a Utah Hidden Treasure
Salt Lake City, July 3, 2001. The 2002 issue of Kaplan/Newsweek College Catalog has named Westminster College as a hidden treasure in Utah.
"Utah counselors are almost unanimous in declaring Westminster a Utah 'hidden treasure,'" reports the publication.
Each year Kaplan teams up with Newsweek to provide details on more than 1000 colleges and universities nationwide. Market Measurement, a national market research firm, utilized a pure random sample of U.S. public, private and Catholic high schools obtained from Dun and Bradstreet. The foundation of the survey was telephone interviews conducted with high school guidance counselors.
"We are very proud to receive this very special distinction," said President Peggy Stock. "I have always known this was a very special place with superb academic and student programs, though I admit to some bias. But now, hearing outside sources recognize the uniqueness of the college, well that is truly gratifying," she said, "It adds to the other accolades we have received over the last six years."
For six years in a row U.S. News & World Report has named Westminster College in the top tier of Regional Colleges and Universities in the Western United States. For the fourth consecutive time, the publication also named Westminster College in the top tier for "Best Value in Colleges," based on a quality education at a reasonable cost.
