CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Preparation Now Available in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City-October 27, 2003-The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER program responds to the needs of the financial industry," said Dean of the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business Aric Krause, announcing the new program at Westminster College. "And, if you live in the Salt Lake City area, Westminster College is the only place that can prepare you for certification," he added.

The five-course program prepares students for the CFP Certification Examination administered by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. The Westminster program captures the full spectrum of wealth management: trusts, wills, estates, insurance, investment portfolios, personal finance and taxation.

"In the world of wealth management, from banks to investment houses to accounting, CFP certification gives financial planners the credibility needed in the industry. With the certification, clients no longer need multiple professionals to meet their wealth management needs-just one person-a CFP professional," said Krause. "It's the hot new career of the future," he added.

The CFP certificate can be part of an MBA, incorporated into undergraduate work, or completed as a graduate certificate.

"The challenging curriculum at Westminster College is the first step to earning the prestigious CFP certification-the hallmark of professionalism in personal financial planning." Kathryn K. Ioannides, JD, CLU, Ch.FC, CFP

The Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business recently opened a 35,000-square-foot extension, which houses the Center for Financial Analysis, bringing all the tools of the professional investor into the hands of the student. This is one of the few Centers for Financial Analysis in the U.S. and the only one in the Intermountain West.

Westminster College is the only private, comprehensive liberal arts college in Utah and one of the very few in the Intermountain West. The college is small, nondenominational and focused intensively on student learning. It prepares its students for success through a strong foundation of liberal education combined with cutting-edge professional programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Westminster in the top tier of regional colleges and universities in the West, and as an excellent educational value. For more information visit
