Westminster College Chamber Singers to tour through S. UtahTuesday, April 27, 2004 The Specturm The 21-member ensemble is a selective group with a musical repertoire that includes everything from classical to spirituals and contemporary to Broadway show tunes. "This is a rare and exciting opportunity for the public, and especially Westminster College alumni and friends who live in Cedar City and the surrounding areas to see our magnificent chamber singers perform and to reconnect with the college and their fellow alumni in the area," said Nancy Michalko, vice president of institutional advancement. Since the choir's inception in 1996, the Westminster Chamber Singers have been in high demand. Their performances have been recorded for diverse media, including a "Touched by an Angel" episode with the internationally acclaimed singer Charlotte Church. They were also represented in Washington, D.C. at the nation's Capital Bicentennial Celebration and National Festival of the States, which culminated in their first CD recording. Furthermore, the Chamber Singers recently debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York, performing under the direction of world-renowned composer John Rutter. "The performances that the Chamber Singers have planned will be a real treat for the entire community in and around Cedar City," Quinn said. "I will also be looking for talented young people who are interested in attending Westminster College in the future and becoming a part of our distinguished music program." |
