Westminster's Nurse Anesthesia Program
Nurse Anesthesia is a rewarding career. We prepare students in a supportive environment through classroom, simulation and clinical instruction.

Admission Requirements

The application deadline is October 31, 2009. This class will begin the didactic portion August 26, 2010. Late applications may be considered on a space available basis. Applicants must have the following items completed in order to be eligible for an interview for the MSNA program:

  1. BS/BSN in nursing is strongly preferred. Other applicants ie. BS, BA, DC, MD, BA, DDS, etc. may also apply.
  2. Minimum of 1 year of critical care (ICU, CCU, NICU, SICU, MICU preferred) as an RN. Applicants with experience in ER or with less than 1 year of critical experience may apply, but may not be selected for an interview at the MSNA Director’s discretion. Critical care experience within the last 3 years is preferred; OR and PACU do not count as critical care.
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA, including a minimum 3.0 GPA in core sciences
  4. GRE scores on file from within the last 5 years; minimum combined score of 1000 is preferred.  This requirement is waived for those applicants already possessing a Master's degree.
  5.  All college transcripts
  6. Three letters of reference
  7. Current résumé
  8. Current RN license in good standing
  9. Successful completion of an undergraduate organic chemistry or biochemistry course with a C or better
  10. Philosophy statement on advanced practice nursing and personal goals as an advanced practice nurse.

The following requirements are due at the time of admission into the MSNA program.

  1. Current PALS certification
  2. Current ACLS certification
  3. Students will be required to provide proof of state and federal background checks before admission. Both state and federal background checks must be free of criminal arrest history before placement at clinical affiliates.
  4. Negative drug testing results from an approved laboratory (10 panel)
  5. Proof of current immunizations
  6. Physical and Mental Health Certificate
