2012-2013 Season

 


 

 All concerts will be held in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall in the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory for Music and Theatre, part of the Jewett Center for the Performing Arts. The facility is home to a wide variety of special events, including concerts, plays, poetry readings, dance performances, lectures, and art exhibitions.


Westminster Chamber Singers 

Under the direction of Dr. Christopher Quinn, the Chamber Singers perform concerts both on campus and abroad. Past tours include trips to the mid-western United States, Washington D.C., New York, France, Spain, China, Ireland and most recently, southern California.

November 30 & December 1, 2012 - The Chamber Singers gear up for another holiday season with their annual holiday concert.

February 14 & 15, 2013 - Started as a fun concert to do when their winter concert happened to fall on Valentine's Day, it has now turned into a Valentine's tradition.  Celebrate with the one you love at a Chamber Singers concert dedicated to the subject!

April 19 & 20, 2013 - It's the end of another great performing year. Come bid the Chamber Singers farewell in their last performance of the year.

Westminster Chorale

Westminster’s largest choir, the Choral’s membership is open to current students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the community. This vibrant choir is directed by Austin Thorpe and performs bi-annually.

December 8, 2012 - Ringing in the holiday season with everyone's favorite sacred and secular choral pieces.

April 16, 2013 -  This 60+ person choir will entertain audiences with an eclectic program of music, all the best music from a variety of styles.

Chamber Orchestra

Westminster’s Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Brandon Derfler, performs a myriad of classical compositions bi-annually.

December 5, 2012- the Westminster Chamber Orchestra will perform the Utah premiere of John Cage's monumental Atlas Eclipticalis to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth. Don't miss this historic concert!

Westminster Opera Studio

 January 11 & 12, 2013, 7:30pm, Courage Theatre

Dido and Aeneas

An opera in a prologue and three acts by the English Baroque composer Henry Purcell to a libretto by Nahum Tate. The story is based on Book IV of Virgil's Aeneid.  It recounts the love story of Dido, Queen of Carthage and the Trojan hero Aeneas, and her despair at his abandonment of her.

All concerts begin at 7:30pm.
