Previous Camps

The Westminster College Access Summer Camp initiative began in 2011 and has been paid for by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

·         In the first two years participation exceeded our expectations, the camp served 48 middle school students in the first year of the camp and 63 in the second year of the camp. All camp participants came from groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education.

·        Westminster undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff provided teaching mentoring and leadership for the camp attendees.

·      An average of 81% of participants indicated that they left academic sessions on computer science, math and writing with a better understanding of the subject or how that subject can be used. 72% of participants indicated that they felt more confident in the academic subject areas.

81% of participants indicated a better understanding of college planning, college life, college preparation, and Utahfutures.org as a result of their participation in the camp.
