Scholarships for Undergraduates

Women

  • Money for Women/Barbara Deming Memorial Fund Grants
    The Grants support feminist women in the arts whose work in some way focuses on women. Grants range from $500 to $1,500 and are limited to support nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.
  • Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund Grants
    The Memorial Fund awards six grants of about $11,000 each to women from developing countries who are studying in the U.S. at an accredited institution and who have a record of service to women and children in their home countries.

LGBTQ

  • National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) Messenger-Anderson Journalism Scholarship and Internship Program
    The NGLTF supports undergraduate college students planning to pursue a bachelors degree in journalism at an accredited four-year college or university. Messenger-Anderson Scholarships provide funding for up to three years of study- $5,000 for the first year and $2,500 for the next two years for a maximum of $10,000. Applicants must reapply each year. Scholars are required to participate in an eight-week summer internship program at one of the NGLTF offices in Los Angeles, New York or Washington, DC. Interns receive a stipend of $300 a week; round trip transportation, $50 for ground transportation, and a housing allowance of $1,000.

Ability

  • Alexander Graham Bell Association College Scholarship Awards for Deaf Students
    Awards ranging from $250 to $5,000 to help defray the cost of study at regular full-time colleges and universities. Competition is open to students in all fields, at any level of undergraduate or graduate studies, who have already been accepted into or have enrolled in programs primarily for students with normal hearing. Preference is given to undergraduates. Application Procedures: Students must request an application by mail or e-mail between September 1st and January 1st.
  • Gore Family Memorial Foundation Scholarships for the Severely Physically Disabled
    Several grants of varying amounts may be awarded to undergraduate or graduate students with severe physical disabilities. Application Procedures: Applications must be requested through writing between April 16th and October 15th.

African American

Latino/a

  • National Hispanic Scholarship
    Westminster College recognizes National Merit Finalists, National Achievement Finalists, National Hispanic Scholars, and Utah Sterling Regional Winners with full tuition scholarships. (2009-2010 Tuition: $24,576).
  • Westminster College recognizes National Merit Semi-finalists, National Achievement Semi-finalists, National Hispanic Honorable Mention, and Utah Sterling Scholar Regional Runners-up with half tuition scholarships.
  • Hispanic Scholarship Fund College Scholarship Program
    Scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,000 in order to financially assist Hispanic students with the cost of education. The HSF also offers scholarships to students who are transferring from a community college to a four-year college or university. A number or internships partnered with private corporations are non-profit organizations are also available.
  • Utah Hispanic Chamber “Somos” Scholar Award
    Westminster College and the Business Leadership Foundation of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to provide a new scholarship to be awarded to an incoming undergraduate student of Hispanic decent. One full-tuition, yearly renewable scholarship will be presented to a qualfied student each year and will be awarded by the Hispanic Business Leadership Foundation of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Native American

  • American Indian Services
    This scholarship is designed to assist Native Americans in developing their human and natural resources and help them make a contribution to society while maintaining their cultural background and heritage.
  • Office of Navajo Nation Scholarship and Financial Assistance
    Part-time and Teacher Education Part-time financial assistance
  • The Morris K. Udall Scholarship
    The Morris K. Udall Scholarship supports juniors and seniors whoa re studying the environment and related fields. It also supports Native Americans and Alaska Natives in fields related to health care and tribal policy. The foundation awards approximately 75 scholarships of $5,000 to help cover tuition, room, board, books and fees. Faculty representative is Jeff McCarthy.

Asian American

  • Korean American Scholarship Foundation Scholarships
    Awards range from $1,000 to $2,000 for Korean American undergraduate and graduate students attending colleges or universities in the U.S. Application Procedures: Application must be requested from the Korean American Scholarship Foundation. The application includes two letters or recommendation, official transcripts, copies of federal income tax returns, and a passport size photo.
