Dancing Moose Montessori School - Best of State
Professor Joyce Sibbett was named the 2011 Education Administrator of the Year by the Utah Best of State organization. Dancing Moose School was named the 2010 Private Preschool of the Year by the same organization.
Putting into practice the theoretical concepts she teaches at Westminster College, Associate Professor Joyce Sibbett has opened the Dancing Moose Montessori School in West Valley City for children from 18 months to six years old. The school’s name reflects its emphasis on nature, creative arts, and movement. Within a standard Montessori curriculum, the program values what Howard Gardner terms multiple intelligences, including aptitudes in music, art, movement, as well as literacy, math, and science. The school is characterized by a diverse group of teachers and students that come together to teach one another. Both the physical environment of the school and the active curriculum allow children to develop their cognitive and creative talents
