"Everything that you do is like a real project, a real world application of the knowledge. And once you learn that that's how you should teach children it makes more sense that's why they do it that way. And it really makes sense why they do a portfolio because you never sit down and take an exam that says 'now you're a good teacher.'"

"Now that I'm done with the program and I look at my portfolio, I think the coolest thing is to see projects I did at the very beginning like two years ago and then things I've done recently and how different it is. And that's the biggest part of what a portfolio does for me--show that I actually did learn something in the few years. You're so busy and you don't know what you're getting out of it until the end."

Ball says she loved her reading foundations course. "That was my favorite probably because it put all the pieces together and how to actually teach a kid how to read, what you have to do, what the process is that you have to go through and it was really cool. The new programs they have for reading in schools are so awesome. They just totally work, it's so cool."
