Westminster College is the only small, private, independent college in Utah and one of only four in the Intermountain West. For the seventh year in a row, US News and World Report has ranked Westminster in the top tier of public and private colleges and universities in the West. There are approximately 2300 students enrolled at Westminster this year.
The School of Education is accredited through the state of Utah and has approximately 250 undergraduate students seeking teacher licensure at the early childhood, elementary or secondary level. In addition, a teaching endorsement in special education for students with mild to moderate disabilities has recently been approved to help fill the state's need for teachers in this area. The average class size in the School of Education is 15 students. The School of Education has grown, and in the past five years the number of students who were recommended for teacher certification has doubled. Last year 61 students successfully completed the program and were recommended to the state for licensure. Of those 61 students, 90% are teaching.
