English Education Program
English education majors receive individual attention and take part in small classes (average of 14 students). Students gain experience from a field placement of at least 30 hours before beginning student teaching for one semester. Combined, this experience gives Westminster students an advantage in the teaching job market. The English education major and minor are designed for students who wish to teach English in a secondary school. English students who wish to teach must meet with the Chair of Secondary Education, Lorel Preston, (preferably at the beginning of their sophomore year) and submit a complete application before the spring and fall admissions deadlines March 15 and October 15. Application materials include a declaration of intent, background check, recommendation forms, and scores from a writing test. For more information, contact:
