PaperCut - Reducing Campus Paper Use 20% by 2010!
A campus-wide paper reduction campaign by the Campus Sustainability Fellows.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Over 10 MILLION trees are cut down EVERY DAY to make paper.
- The United States uses nearly 2 BILLION trees for paper every year, and THROWS AWAY about half of it.
- Westminster College spends over $29,000 on paper every year!
- In Westminster's library, over 70,000 pages are printed every MONTH!

PAPER REDUCTION TIPS
Tips for Students:
1. Print papers double-sided.
2. Ask teachers if you can submit homework electronically.
3. Use a laptop for readings and note-taking.
4. Only print what you need.
5. Check over the document before you hit print to eliminate multiple prints for mini-mistakes.
6. Print multiple power point slides per page.
Tips for Faculty:
1. Let your students know you will accept double-sided papers.
2. Post syllabi and readings on Angel or using eReserve.
3. Allow students to use laptops for readings and note-takings.
4. Communicate by e-mail whenever possible.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT COPY/PRINT JOBS
In accordance with the campus-wide paper reduction campaign, PaperCut, the following changes are now in effect:
1. Print requests to the Print Shop and most printers on campus will now DEFAULT to DOUBLE-SIDED. If you need a single-sided print, you must specify.
2. As of May 2009, the Print Shop will begin reducing the supply of non-recyclable ultra-bright paper colors, except for school colors.
