Why recycle electronics?
Electronics are one of the fastest growing waste streams in the United States. As technology improves, consumers are quickly upgrading their personal electronics. While some unwanted electronics can be donated and reused, the best alternative for those that have reached the end of their useful life is to recycle them. It keeps toxic materials out of our landfills and helps to conserve natural resources.* Electronics that aren't recycled properly can end up being shipped to developing countries, where they are handled dangerously and cause severe health and environmental problems.
For our collection event, we will be working with SBK Recycle, who keeps electronics in the United States and disposes of them in environmentally safe ways.
