Welcome to Environmental Studies - a liberal arts degree with a difference
This is an exciting time for Environmental Studies as a program here at Westminster College, and
for Environmental Studies as a field of study across North America.
Environmental Studies is an excellent choice for students who want to major or minor in a field that leads to rewarding careers and makes a difference.
Westminster's Environmental Studies program has fine faculty from many disciplines--Economics, History, Biology,
Philosophy, Anthropology, Political Science, English, Psychology and Education. Environmental Studies students form an
intellectual community that is motivated, carefully advised, ambitious, grounded in place, capable of varied problem
solving and well trained for careers and for graduate study.
Nationally, interdisciplinary Environmental Studies programs like ours prepare students to work in a world of
conflicting ideas and contrary agendas for the environment. Environmental Studies students are trained in
scientific practice, versed in historical and aesthetic patterns, and adept both in oral and written communication.
These tools give our graduates the leverage to choose jobs in business, law, academics, government or the non-profit world.
At Westminster, Environmental Studies students get personal attention from faculty, and follow a clear curriculum to
a rewarding degree. Please look at our requirements, talk to our students, call or email me anytime--Environmental
Studies at Westminster College is a growing program and a good one.
